Santa Clara, CA - Jul 17, 2007 - Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN) today introduced an enhanced version of its AdminStudio® product that can package applications for streaming via Citrix® Presentation Server 4.5. In addition to simplifying Windows Vista deployments, the new AdminStudio product helps IT administrators ease their workloads by automating the packaging process in Citrix - driven network environments.
IT administrators' role in the enterprise are becoming more complicated with the continual introduction of multiple forms of application deployment. Many are turning to virtualization technologies to help resolve these issues. However, moving traditional desktops into a streaming or virtual world requires extensive efforts and has a high cost associated with it.
In collaboration with the Citrix Global Alliance Partner Program, the new version of AdminStudio 8.5 has tested compatibility and has received a Citrix Ready™ designation for Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 Platinum Edition, Citrix's network virtualization technology. This compatibility verifies that IT organizations using Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 Platinum Edition, Application Streaming to deliver applications can now tie in AdminStudio 8.5, and easily create virtual profiles to stream applications over their corporate network.
"We are in the business of solving IT and business challenges by providing a strategic, end-to-end application delivery system," said David Jones, corporate vice president, business development, for Citrix. 'Macrovision and Citrix have worked together to help connect the dots for our mutual customers and provided them with increased benefits in delivering applications securely and reliably."
"With so many choices out there on the market today, IT administrators are forced to deal with more issues in getting their users online. Our goal is to help them to reduce cost and make application deployment easier," said Mark Bishof, executive vice president and general manager, Software Business Unit, Macrovision. "With Citrix integration, AdminStudio is a powerful platform that enables our customers to efficiently test and prepare applications for deployment across the enterprise."
AdminStudio 8.5 makes software management more efficient by providing a single tool to handle IT administrators packaging and profiling needs. The new release includes the recently announced InstallShield® 2008 product as a built-in package editor, which further eases the deployment and migration of applications in Windows Vista and highly virtualized environments. Previous versions of Macrovision's AdminStudio product have been found to improve IT productivity by 50 to 70 percent time savings in application packaging, according to the analyst firm, IDC.¹
AdminStudio 8.5 also includes a suite of powerful testing tools that ensure both application compliance with the latest system requirements and the ability to accurately track software usage after deployment.
AdminStudio version 8.5 is available today.
