Here’s what’s in this new release
Granular Price Book Adjustments
- Now partners can make adjustments at a service and usage type level. This level of detail allows for highly tailored pricing strategies.
Rather than being limited to adjusting pricing for an entire cloud vendor (like AWS) or applying a total bill adjustment, Flexera allows partners to go into specific service line items and even target usage types within those services. Example: Partners can create a rule that specifically targets “S3 standard storage within the us-west-2 region” and apply a 20% discount.
- You can target adjustments based on various billing file dimensions. This supports very specific, sophisticated pricing and margin management strategies.
Flexera offers partners the most flexibility for price book rules. Whatever dimensions partners see within the billing file can be pulled into a rule. Example: Partners can create rules based on a wide array of data points present in the cloud billing data, such as service, usage type, region, or even specific tags or line-item descriptions.Rules give you the power to automate and scale adjustments, like rules-based removal of credits such as an enterprise discount program credit, or rules-based “no discounts” for support.
- You can manage and remove specific line items like discounts and credits. Control the visibility and application of discounts/credits in your billing to customers.
With Flexera, partners can remove specific line items like credits from price books. Example: You can target and remove “EDP (enterprise discount program) credit” by looking for a specific description in the line item from AWS. Additionally, you can remove all credits based on the line-item type.
- Partners now can apply price book rules to different customer groupings. Easily implement tiered pricing or custom agreements for different customer segments.
Flexera gives you the power to target price book rules at “all customers,” a “single customer,” or “a group of customers.” Example: You can create “rule-based dimensions” to group several customers together (e.g., “Gold Service Tier”) and then apply specific pricing rules to that entire group.
Better Customer Management and Visibility
- Create distinct, logically separated customer orgs within your MSP org. Efficiently separate and manage individual customers within your central MSP tenant.
With Flexera’s new customer menu system, partners can create “customer organizations”—in other words, child organizations. And you can do so either via the UI or through APIs.
- Gain granular control over capabilities & ownership at the customer org level. Enable customized service offerings, clear assignment of responsibility for each customer.
When creating a new customer org, partners can choose the capabilities they have, as well as who has ownership of that organization. The designated owner then has the customer org available as an option in the drop-down customer switcher.
- End customers see a final, accurate cost without the underlying partner adjustments being exposed. Keep your pricing strategies and margin management private to you.
Flexera never exposes the adjustments partners make within the customer org. The customer only sees the final, adjusted price.
Deeper Insights into the Impact of Price Books
- Now you can see, and report on, the impact of your adjustments by customer. Easily understand the impact of your pricing rules on different customers and track their margins effectively.
Within the partner org, spend analysis reports let you quickly see which customer gets what type of adjustment. Now it’s easy to understand the impact of your pricing rules on different customers, track your pre- and post-adjustment costs, and to track their margins effectively. And with a tabular view, you can see the service line items being adjusted, as well as the type of margins that could be made by your adjustments.
