Six months ago, Flexera and Spot joined forces to bring FinOps users the ultimate unified platform—converging cloud cost visibility and zero-touch efficiency. Today, we’re excited to announce a significant milestone in that journey: Spot Eco has officially made its way to the Flexera One platform. It’s now officially known as Flexera One Cloud Commitment Management.

This transition isn’t just about rebranding or migration. It is accompanied by major upgrades that are the result of priceless customer feedback and relentless teamwork. These enhancements make Cloud Commitment Management the ultimate choice for organizations that want to take their first step toward fully automated FinOps.

Since Flexera’s acquisition of the Spot portfolio in March of 2025, those of us who came to this new “home away from home” have been impressed by our new coworkers. Flexera already understood how Eco could fit into its FinOps story. With the support of Flexera’s leadership—who embraced the Eco product—we integrated Eco into the Flexera One console within four months, but our vision goes far beyond that. Flexera has facilitated the acceleration of Eco’s roadmap and educated us about how the Flexera One platform should multiply value for customers.

In short, changing from Eco to Cloud Commitment Management isn’t just rebranding—it’s an evolution, and it’s only the start.  Cloud Commitment Management delivers the proven capabilities of Spot Eco into a more powerful, integrated environment, unlocking new possibilities for smarter cloud cost management.

Same trusted solution, even more value

Spot Eco has long been a go-to solution for managing cloud commitments: Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Committed Usage Discounts (CUDs) across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Over time, our users have become more sophisticated. My team and I have been privileged to hear plenty of customer feedback first-hand: the value they see and the metrics and visualizations they need most. Today, all this feedback becomes reality.

With our transition to Flexera One, Cloud Commitment Management continues to deliver hands-free commitment savings. Now, it’s enhanced by more automation, a new look and the capabilities of the Flexera platform.

As of September 30, Cloud Commitment Management customers in the Flexera One console will see:

  • Continuity of features and support they’ve relied on
  • A refreshed dashboard experience
  • An update to our monthly automated Value Email Report, to include data from all supported providers
  • An uplift in savings, thanks to additional automated actions

In detail: What’s new with Cloud Commitment Management

Cloud Commitment Management users using the Flexera One console will find that the updated dashboard views offer several improvements over what has previously been available within the Spot console.

Executive summary

An executive summary will give customers the state of savings and ROI. It quickly answers the question of whether Cloud Commitment Management has been successful by:

  • Comparing the savings and ESR the customer presently has, with their level before joining Cloud Commitment Management
  • Showing how many actions Cloud Commitment Management has taken on the customer’s behalf
  • Showing Compute ESR, Non-Compute ESR, a combined ESR for all cloud services, and Compute ESR with spot instances

Compute ESR with spot instances

This enhanced metric considers all EC2 usage, including spot usage, plus other services that can be covered by a Compute Savings Plan: EC2, ECS/Fargate, EKS and Lambda. It highlights an essential advantage of Flexera’s Cloud Commitment Management:

When customers use Cloud Commitment Management with Flexera’s virtual machine optimization solution (Spot Elastigroup), and Flexera’s container optimization solution (Spot Ocean), users can attain higher ESR on EC2 instances than any solution in the industry.

Metrics Over Time

Cloud Commitment Management will give our sophisticated users the ability to review how metrics have changed over time, with utmost granularity and clarity. That includes all the flavors of ESR mentioned above plus utilization, coverage, effective cost and waste. The customer can aggregate these data points at the monthly and hourly levels and—like the rest of the dashboard—filter them to specific services and regions. Once the customer has the view they need, they can even toggle to tabular views of the data. Of course, all images and tables can be exported.

Another big difference might not be immediately apparent to users but will certainly impact their quality of life. While Spot’s “organization” construct only supported one billing account per provider, Flexera One allows users to remain in the same organization and see data from all billing accounts.

Commitment value and expiration

Commitment management is not just about generating savings. The other side of the coin is risk management. Cloud Commitment Management has always given customers an idea of their total commitment and how it’s expected to diminish over time.  Now, the new value expiration metrics on Flexera One offer more insight than ever.

With a glance, a customer will get a sense of their total commitment value, plus precisely how long it will take for segments of that total value to drain away, assuming nothing changes.

What if things do change?

Customers want to know what Cloud Commitment Management might do to mitigate usage drops. We now convey that information to the customer in a visualization that explains fallback options Cloud Commitment Management has at its disposal. For example, users will be able to visualize, how their monthly commitment amount would be reduced if Cloud Commitment Management’s waste management automation recognized significant usage drop by extending the term of convertible RIs.

Customers want more than just high-level metrics to explain risk, and that’s why Cloud Commitment Management now offers a commitment expiration table. This tool provides detail into all aspects of a commitment portfolio and when expirations occur.

Bringing insight via email

Though dashboard updates are wonderful, we recognize that our FinOps users are often too busy to enter the console.

As an added convenience, we’re sending out automated monthly Cloud Commitment Management Value Emails. The Value Email is meant to answer the question, “What exactly does Eco do for us?”

In a single glance, the Value Email will give you:

  • Cloud Commitment Management performance metrics—for the recent month and “all-time”
  • Key data of your commitment posture across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
  • A fresh look and executive-friendly format

More automated savings

Cloud Commitment Management has already taken millions of automated actions on behalf of customers to generate savings. With cost specialists working on behalf of customers to ensure automation aligns with strategy, we have never ended our pursuit of automated excellence.

Our AWS customers will be very happy to find a sudden uplift in their savings. We owe this to improved algorithms for managing convertible Reserved Instances (convertible RIs).

The future

Make multi-cloud commitments a no-brainer

Outside of the Cloud Commitment Management user community, multi-cloud commitment portfolios are a rarity, with good reason. Multi-cloud FinOps managers must strategize holistically across clouds. However, today’s FinOps tools fall short in giving an actionable single-pane, multi-cloud view of the organization’s commitments that could, for example, help them see which cloud provider gives better value for compute RIs or database SPs.

Cloud Commitment Management will soon make this a reality. Our near-term plans include:

  • Combining savings and commitment data into a single, all-provider pane
  • Offering more insight into the current customer strategy and how they align with their unique goals
  • Showcasing details into Cloud Commitment Management actions, strategy and configuration changes over time, so leadership can evaluate how cloud commitment management always adapts to their needs

Smarter decisions through data integration

Flexera One brings cloud commitment management into a unified platform where cloud commitment data can be combined with other critical datasets, such as software licensing. This integration will empower organizations to make holistic decisions about cloud and software spend. For example, if the company owns ten thousand unused Windows Server Licenses, does it make sense to buy commitments for Linux? This kind of integration will allow FinOps practitioners to make commitment management decisions with greater confidence and impact than ever before.

The value of integration peaks at the use of Cloud Commitment Management with Flexera One Cloud Cost Optimization (CCO). As a leader for cloud financial management by nearly every important industry analyst’s measure, CCO ingests Cloud Commitment Management data for its analytics and recommendations.

The nuanced capabilities of CCO’s billing centers, combined with cloud commitment management’s savings and commitment data, means a fantastic experience for customers interested in allocating Cloud Commitment Management’s savings and costs via showback and chargeback reporting. It’s also a new level of scalability for MSPs managing their customers’ cloud investments.

Why this matters for you

The move to Flexera One isn’t just about technology—it’s about enabling better business outcomes. With Cloud Commitment Management, customers gain:

  • Smarter optimization—Unified insights across cloud and software commitments
  • Greater efficiency—One platform to manage spend, commitments and licensing
  • Future-proof strategy—A scalable foundation for ongoing cost optimization
