Simplifying Application Deployment with AdminStudio’s Package Feed Module

Not so long ago, deploying software across an organization was a complicated and time-consuming task. Desktop administrators had to spend hours, sometimes days, repackaging vendor installers and making customizations. This process was risky, especially when things went wrong and support from the software vendor was limited.

But today, the landscape of application deployment has changed considerably. With the rise of MSI and MSIX and increased vendor support for automated deployments, about 85% of applications can now be deployed without needing to be repackaged. This is a huge win for admins, as it simplifies the process and reduces the risk of customizations that may not be supported by the vendor.

To make deployment even easier, AdminStudio released the Package Feed Module, which takes deployment to the next level by providing admins with easy access to pre-tested and validated installation details for more than 3,600 vendor setups.

Here’s how the Package Feed Module helps streamline the deployment process:

  • Always Up-to-Date: It keeps you informed with the latest versions of thousands of vendor installers, ensuring you always have the most current software to deploy.
  • One-Click Downloads: You can directly download the latest setup files into AdminStudio with just a click. For over half of the listed products, this is available (depending on the vendor’s policies).
  • Pre-Validated Silent Command Lines: The module provides ready-to-use, tested silent installation commands specific to each version of an application. This reduces errors and simplifies the deployment process.
  • Automatic Detection Rules: The module tracks the file path, file name, and version details of installed applications, making it easy to set up detection rules for SCCM or WSUS.

The Package Feed Module is consistently updated, with over 100 updates being added daily. This includes updates for over 1600 Mac packages as well. Thanks to this, admins can now add, wrap, and publish deployment packages in just a few clicks—what used to take hours or days.

But that’s not all. With AdminStudio Enterprise, you can take things even further by automating the entire process using PowerShell. Simply provide a list of software titles, and AdminStudio will automatically download, wrap, and publish deployment packages for all of them—saving you even more time.

Package Feed Module is a game-changer for desktop administrators. It significantly streamlines the application packaging and deployment process, leveraging a comprehensive database of thousands of software products, enabling users to quickly add new applications to their AdminStudio catalog. Additionally, it facilitates the download of the latest versions of these products and provides critical information such as silent installation parameters, essential for automated deployments.

By utilizing the Package Feed Module, organizations enhance their efficiency, minimize deployment errors, and ensure a smoother transition of applications into the production environment. This powerful addition to AdminStudio supports a more efficient and reliable application deployment process.

Introducing ‘My Requests’ in AdminStudio

While the Package Feed Module helps you with curated applications, sometimes there are items that may not be included in the database. Previously, customers would raise support tickets to request the inclusion of new applications in the Package Feed Module. We are thrilled to announce a new feature that streamlines this process—’My Requests’.

With ‘My Requests’, customers can now raise new package requests directly from within AdminStudio, eliminating the need to raise support tickets. The request raised in AdminStudio reaches our Support and Engineering teams for review. After review the new app is added to our catalog or our support can reach out to the requestor for more information reducing friction and increasing transparency. This feature empowers users to quickly and efficiently request the addition of new applications, ensuring that their packaging needs are met promptly. By integrating this feature, we enhance the user experience, reduce wait times, and enable our customers to maintain their focus on delivering high-quality, customer-centric solutions.

This new capability is part of our ongoing commitment to improving customer satisfaction and product usability. We believe that ‘My Requests’ will greatly benefit our users by providing a more seamless and responsive process for managing application packaging requests.
