SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Jul 18, 2005 - SoftSummit™ 2005 will feature the first annual Summit Awards™ to honor the software industry's leading publishers and enterprises for maximizing the value of their applications in several key software categories. SoftSummit, being held October 10-11 in Santa Clara, California, is a premier industry event where leading software publishers and their enterprise customers gather to debate the most important trends that are shaping the industry. The Summit Awards honor the most customer-centric companies in the industry, including publishers that sell software and enterprise IT groups that maintain software for their internal customers. In short, the Summit Awards recognize those companies that excel at Software Value Management™ (http://www.softsummit.com/about_SVM.html).
"SoftSummit is a discussion among software developers and users about increasing the value of the enterprise software they build and deploy," said Jonathan Eunice, principal analyst at Illuminata and one of this year's Summit Awards judges. "The Summit Award acknowledges products, companies, and people that are raising the bar by baking Software Value Management into their solutions."
Confirmed judges include industry analysts and top editors from organizations such as AMR, IDC, Illuminata, SD Times, CRN, the SIIA and Hurwitz & Associates. A total of six Summit Awards will be presented at the conference, honoring software publishers and enterprises in the following categories:
The Summit Award honors publishers that deliver software applications that maximize value for their customers as well as their business, and honors enterprises that have implemented software applications to maximize the value from their software purchases. More specifically, publisher nominees will be scored based on such areas as software evaluation, pricing and licensing, packaging, installation and distribution, controlling piracy and the ability of the publisher to increase the lifetime value of a product. Enterprises will be judged in the areas of usage assessment, maintenance, preparation, testing and deployment, managing and servicing licenses and entitlements and software expense optimization, among others.
