Flexera Software, formerly Acresso Software, today announced the acquisition of HONICO Software GmbH of Germany and Switzerland. The transaction includes HONICO's Dynamic License Control (DLC) technology, a proven solution to help organizations proactively administer, control, and optimize high-value SAP licenses, allocate respective costs and deliver crystal clear management reports about actual usage.
HONICO's DLC technology now becomes FlexNet Manager for SAP Applications® Business Suite, an integral component of Flexera Software's FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises. This end-to-end solution provides a way for enterprises to control, manage, and optimize enterprise-class applications—from 20,000 engineering applications to Oracle E-Business Suite and Databases and now SAP Business Suite—using detailed tracking and usage data and linking it to specific license details.
"Today, every enterprise is looking at how to monitor and manage their SAP Business Suite usage to fully understand their usage patterns from department to department or geography to geography in order to optimize their entitlements and stay in compliance," said Mark Bishof, president and chief executive officer for Flexera Software. "This one-of-a-kind technology will play a vital role in the future of Flexera Software's FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises. Our vision is a single, end-to-end monitoring and optimization platform that will help enterprises ensure software compliance and potentially reduce their total spend across all of their high-value applications. This acquisition is an important step in that direction."
FlexNet Manager for SAP Applications® Business Suite provides a deep level of insight into SAP license usage, allowing companies to accurately budget for current and future SAP license needs. This ensures compliance and prevents costly true-up and software audit surprises. The solution tracks and analyzes usage based on behavior, authorization roles, geography, and other business rules, links that information to license entitlements and makes recommendations about how to fully optimize license utilization. With this highly detailed information, enterprise IT and government managers and procurement departments can partner more effectively with their vendors.
"Information about software use has become more and more important to the relationship between the software vendor and their enterprise customers," said Amy Konary, Research Director, Software Pricing, Licensing, and Delivery, IDC. "Flexera Software has a track record as a provider to enterprises of granular usage information about their high-value applications. With this acquisition, the company has broadened its SAP capabilities."
With 20 years of experience as the makers of FlexNet Publisher, the leading licensing technology embedded in 20,000 applications, Flexera Software is uniquely capable of providing meaningful insight into the usage of some of the most expensive and widely used applications on the market. More than 3,000 software publishers and most of the Global 2000 companies depend on Flexera Software's technologies to ensure that end users have the most positive experience installing, using, and managing software.
