Schaumburg, IL - Jan 30, 2012 - Flexera Software, the leading provider of Application Usage Management solutions for application producers and enterprises, announced today major new business intelligence functionality in the latest release of FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises. This release features industry-first, predictive "what-if" analysis to help enterprises proactively assess the financial and license compliance impact of hardware and/or software changes. In combination with new advanced reporting capabilities, including trend analysis provided by FlexNet Manager Platform, the release represents the first business intelligence and predictive analysis solution for software asset management and license optimization.
Predictive What-if Analysis
FlexNet Manager Platform, FlexNet Manager for Microsoft, and FlexNet Manager for IBM can now perform what-if analysis, allowing organizations to simulate the effect of IT environment changes on their Oracle Processor, Microsoft Server Processor- and IBM Processor Value Unit- (PVU) based license positions before those changes are implemented. Organizations can calculate their resulting license position and the financial and license compliance implications by simulating:
"True software license optimization should be proactive, not reactive," said Amy Konary, vice president software licensing and provisioning at IDC. "Organizations want the ability to understand the impact on their software estate of hardware and software changes - before those changes are made. Flexera Software's introduction of this what-if analysis functionality gives enterprises a powerful ability to understand the cost and risk of IT environment changes and increases the likelihood of continuous license compliance and optimization."
Business Reporting Portal for Advanced Reporting and Trend Analysis
FlexNet Manager Platform now incorporates IBM Cognos technology to provide new business intelligence and reporting capabilities including multidimensional analysis, making it easy to report on complex data, track key indicators over time for trend analysis, and create custom reports. These capabilities are available through a dashboard giving enterprises a centralized view to report on and analyze software optimization data.
"Given the growing complexity and dynamic nature of IT environments due to virtualization and complex license models, the risk is growing that enterprises will fall out of license compliance and/or over-spend on software," said Alan Swahn, vice president of product management at Flexera Software. "The introduction of business intelligence and predictive, what-if analysis, therefore, delivers a much-needed capability allowing organizations to understand ahead of time the potential compliance liabilities and financial exposure of hardware and software changes. Flexera Software is the only company providing this powerful predictive analysis tool."
